Wildflower Wander on the Washlands

E-mail Print

A guided walk 'Wildflower Wander' is taking place on Sunday 13th June at 2pm on the Woodhouse Washlands (YWT) Nature Reserve. We will be meeting outside the Princess Royal PH car park, on Retford Road at Woodhouse Mill (S13) and going for a gentle walk around the reserve for about 2 hours. The reserve is a mixture of grassland, ponds and shrubs with the River Rother running through the centre. It is really colourful at the moment full of herbs, grasses, rushes and sedges all in flower - yellows, blues, reds, whites, greens, pinks - a real kaleidoscope!

The flowers attract lots of insects and birds such as swallows and house martins which feed off them and we should see lots of these as well as other birds and maybe the banded demoiselle dragonfly - one of the reserve's specialities.

Suitable for all ages. Bring your camera with you.
