South Yorkshire Wildlife Action Day 2012

Saturday 4th February, 9.30am to 12.45pm

at Victoria Hall Methodist Church, Chapel Walk, Sheffield

The second South Yorkshire Wildlife Action Day is being organized by Professor Ian D. Rotherham and colleagues to bring like-minded people together for an interesting and informative event. This year the event is supported by grants from the South Yorkshire Community Foundation and Defra. It builds on the interest expressed about developing further events from the Active Citizens for the Environment research project and the first Wildlife Action Day.

The half-day event will provide:

  1.  feedback and discussion on the Active Citizens for the Environment research project and how this will be taken forward;
  2. a forum for setting up the Invasive & Problem Species Network;
  3. an opportunity to discuss some of the key conservation issues of the day; and
  4. a chance to meet others, exchange ideas and find out more about a variety of projects.

 After short introductions by the organisers there will be 5 minute presentations on the topic areas by representatives from invited groups.

 The event will be free with refreshments. There are limited places and pre-booking is essential. Please fill in the booking form and return as soon as possible to reserve a place – further information will be sent to those who book.

We are hoping that a wide range of local groups will contribute to the event which will be open to conservation/wildlife groups from across the area. If you are interested in bringing some display material, please let us know and we will send you a booking form. Space is limited and will be allocated on a first come basis.

Newsflash

BIOMASS PROVISION.

A student from Sheffield Hallam

University is researching biomass

provision in South Yorkshire.

Can the Woodlands of South

Yorkshire play a significant

role within energy provision

in the region in the future?

He is specifically looking into the

provision of bio-energy from

woodchip provided by the

management of South Yorkshire's

woodlands, with this woodchip

being burnt in small to medium

sized biomass boilers in municipal

buildings.

If you have some knowledge or

experience on this subject could

you spend five minutes filling in

these questionnaires. Below are

two questionnaires on survey monkey.
