Shire Brook Valley Bioblitz 21st&22nd May

E-mail Print

“BioBlitz - over 500 species identified"

The Shire Brook Valley Local Nature Reserve held a special celebration of International Biodiversity Day with a “BioBlitz”.  The 24 hour marathon event which ran from 4.00pm on Saturday 21st May to 4.00pm on Sunday 22nd May was a great success. The challenge was to record as many different wildlife species in the Shire Brook Valley as possible during the 24 hours. The total identified so far is 547 and when all the mini-beasts and plants have been identified the final count is expected to reach well over 600 which is amazing! The organisers would like to thank everyone who came along to help record the wildlife - you were brilliant!!.
